WORKING WITH DIGITAL IMAGES
CILIP WORKSHOP, 22 MAY, BIRMINGHAM
If you regularly work with digital images but sometimes find image files
unwieldy to use, this workshop is for you. It is designed to equip you with
the key skills, knowledge and hands-on experience that you need in order to
work with both still and animated computer image files efficiently and
creatively.
BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE:
* understanding of valuable technical background information
* knowledge of the different types of electronic images and their
characteristics, and which types of images are most suitable for use in
different contexts
* practical experience of working with still and animated images
* knowledge of how to cut down on valuable time and money spent downloading
image files while online
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
* people who find themselves working with digital images but have no
background in this area
* people who are beginning to use digital cameras and scanners, but are
finding it difficult to control the resulting image files

floppy disk (virus-checked, please) for use in the hands-on sessions. These
should be images - photos or graphics - related to your organisation or of
special interest to you.

Acquiring images from scanners, digital cameras, and from the internet: an
explanation of the processes involved, including a live demonstration with a
digital camera

11:30 Managing images
Using photostyling software to edit, resize and manipulate images

Some key points to consider - especially efficiency - including the
incorporation of 'thumbnails' and user-activated animations
2.30 Creating simple but effective animations
Using animator software (eg, Ulead Gif Animator) and morph software (eg,
Sentfactor Morph), including hands-on exercises

A brief introduction to more complex movies and graphics such as AVI and
MPEG files, 'flash' and 'shockwave' graphics
