It really does show, the LA (CILIP) does not represent us, and has no teeth or real credibility. I wish they would stop ducking. Coming out of public libraries, it is scary the total de-skilling and wholesale demolition of Librarian as a profession, without so much of a whimper from the LA. I have many good fiends in working in local authorities that decided to do away with professional librarians, these people feel betrayed and let down by our "professional body" and have since left it. Is the stubborn refusal to take on any trade union role ultimately going to lead to its downfall, by making simply a powerless lobby group? Having been active at branch and group level for years, I am beginning to be very disillusioned with the organization, and am beginning to wonder if my subscription is worth it?
