Mike,
you may be aware of the work that we have done for the 4 boroughs of
Redbridge, Waltham Forest, Barking & Dagenham, and Havering. We have a
fledgling library single service centre (LibNEL) that was formed in an
attempt to combat the disruption to library services that might have
occurred because of local reconfiguration. For us this was the
dissolving of 2 large integrated health care trusts & a community
trusts, the establishment of a large mental health trust across 4
Boroughs & the setting up of 5 PCTs in our area.
The service is geographical rather than institution bound. It has a
management team of 8, 6 Library Managers, 1 Search & Training Specialist
and myself. The 22 staff in LibNEL are employees of the NE London
Workforce Development Confederation, one post is a joint appointment
with R&D in an acute hospital trust. See our website www.libnel.nhs.uk &
various documents on the Londonlinks site.
