Here's my contribution. I thought I should offer a veterinary perspective.
BMA: Labrador Retriever. Very popular and biddable, but can run to fat.
RCN: Jack Russell. Active, bold and outgoing, prone to vices if bored.
King's Fund: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Graceful, with a small and well-balanced body, but prone to cardiomyopathies
RSM: Dalmatian. Originally used to guard carriages, have a smooth powerful rhythmic action. Congenital deafness can be a problem, though.
Royal College of Surgeons: the Chow Chow. Originally a source of food in China and Korea, powerfully built with a leonine head. Not good with children.
