Good afternoon!
I have recently become involved in a steering group to set up a patient
information drop-in-centre for cancer patients. I normally attempt to avoid
anything in the way of patient information, but as there are nurse
specialists, the patient information officer and various other folk involved
I thought it might be safe to join in!
Has anyone else out there been involved in anything similar, cos I would
like to pick your brains. I am looking for suggestions and information on:
1. touch screen kiosks, security for PCs with public access, audiovisual
booths. Where did you get them from, what did they cost you, what are the
issues to look out for?
2. training packages for volunteers in finding information on the internet,
and being aware of the quality issues. Training packages covering basic
skills - using a mouse, opening a file, printing off etc. Is there anyone
who had developed such packages and would be willing to share them with me?
3. job/placement descriptions for volunteers staffing such information
drop-in centres.
4. local self help groups - there are millions it seems - what are the best
places to look for these, and how do you keep them up to date - any handy
short cuts?
As ever, any information will be gratefully received!
Many thanks
