Dear All,
Well, your response to my 'Social Services' plea was deafening in its
silence. I had 2 responses giving data, and 2 asking for data! Maybe its
because its August, or maybe everyone is keeping their heads down. Here is
the list I have drawn up, which might be starting point for meeting with
the local authority and discussing money.
PLEASE add to it/comment/criticise.

Social Services/Local Authority Staff Appreciating Health Library Access
1 Social Workers
Hospital based and community based (in CMHTs and also social Service
Depts).
2 Nursing/ Care Staff
Nurses, CareSupport Workers in local authority Nursing Homes
3 Therapy Staff
Adult & Paediatric Occupational Therapists. I understand quite a few are
local Authority employed.
Counsellors? Psychologists? Educational Psychologists?
Other Therapy staff?
4 CMHT Staff
Frequently some are NHS employed, others local authority. Includes CPNs,
Therapists, Care Workers, Managers,
5 Day Centre Staff
I'm not clued up on this, but there are educational and also day care
centres which are staffed by local authority employees - e.g. elderly
centres, disability centres, etc.
6 Home Care Staff
7 Other Services Staff
Any ideas?
8 Private & Voluntary Sector Staff
E.g.: Private Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Clinics, Professionals in private
practice
Charitable Homes, Charitable Day Centres, Hospices
9 Other Health-related Staff
E.g.: Community Opticians, Dentists, Chiropodists
ETC., ETC.,!
