Dear all
As you will probably know, The DoH has licensed Clinical Evidence for the
widest possible use. This includes public libraries and HE/FE users as well
as NHS users. The Licence includes c 50, 000 printed copies which the DoH
can distribute to English GPs and others.
Clinical Evidence Version 6 has not been generally distributed. Those of
you who have received a copy will have done so because you are one a
small number in the UK who have a standing order.
The distribution of 6 has been delayed for several reasons and is now
likely to be sent out at the same time as Version 7 - the new Concise
Version. Physical distribution is expensive and the changes after StBoP
mean that this hasn't been the best time to distribute it. Copies will be
available via the NHS Responseline but I have not yet agreed the formal
process for this.
The electronic version is available for all via NeLH and BMJ web sites - no
password will be required for access under the new Licence. We expect to
migrate increasingly to e access . The Licence with BMJ includes
partnership working so that we can influence the web version. You should
soon start to see changes and improvements in several areas . NeLH will
lead work on this and you can hear more about this at HLG conference where
BMJ, NeLH colleagues and I can answer questions and log your concerns.
Apologies colleagues for the delays in getting this valued publication out
to you. It should be with English colleagues within the next month. On
receipt, please discard earlier editions which will be out-of -date. NB
The Licence does not include any distribution to the rest of the UK.
As soon as the distribution is finalised there will be a note in the Chief
Executive's Weekly Bulletin and other relevant publications. This will
include Responseline details.
I hope this informal note is a useful update.
