Hazel re login problems:
Very good point- same happened to me twice, and a lot of people wouldnt
persist.
Even better if they could sort out the glitch!
By the way, I dont have any extra knowledge on this, but I passed on a query
from someone to Update. They were kind enough to cc me Update's reply, which
would be relevant to other Netscape users (like BL reading rooms).
'The new Cochrane Library uses advanced Javascript and XML functions that
are not available in any version of Netscape. Our plan is to have two
versions of the Library, the Internet Explorer version with the advanced
user interface features available in Internet Explorer, and a more basic
version that will work with all browsers. We anticipate that the
functionality of both versions will be similar, but the user interfaces will
of necessity be different. We reached this decision on the grounds that we
do not want to produce a product based on the least advanced technology,
rather than for any political reason or particular affiliation with
Microsoft.'
If anyone else has queries they ask Update ([log in to unmask]) which have
relevant answers for the rest of us, perhaps they could cc them to the list?
Some of my non-English UK colleagues are understandably surprised that it
seems all of their countryfolk will also have access- has anyone in
Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland got thru successfully on the anonymous
login, from a PC outside the NHS?

Good news indeed! - I'd heard rumours about
this at a recent conference at the DoH but no
date was attached. I must admit though it
seems to be a rigmarole to recognise a valid
IP - when I first tried to log on I was told
my IP was not recognised, clicked on the list
of countries, then was offered a chance to
have the IP address checked, then got taken
through. I think most of my users would have
given up at the first "your IP address is not
recognised" hurdle! I wonder if more
encouraging explanatory text needs to go on
the front page somewhere?...
