An opportunity has arisen for an experienced librarian to fill and further
develop the established role of Clinical Support Librarian. The position is
being offered initially on a one-year contract or as a one-year secondment.
It is a challenging and rewarding role providing literature searching to
support patient care and service development for all members of the
multidisciplinary team across acute, mental health and primary care
services. The postholder will offer training in areas of literature
searching and sources of health information to support evidence-based
practice and clinical governance.
The successful candidate will be a graduate with a relevant library
qualification, and at least two years experience in a NHS / HE health
library. The candidate should have: computer literacy skills, including
extensive use of health databases such as the Cochrane Library, Medline and
CINAHL; training experience in a one-to-one and small group setting; a
knowledge of the hierarchy of evidence, and an awareness of critical
appraisal.
The post is mainly based at Whipps Cross University Hospital Trust and forms
part of the LibNEL Single Service Centre for libraries within the North East
London Workforce Confederation.
