Dear Colleagues,
While searching the index of my 1994 National Library of Medicine
Classification to find a suitable resting place for a pamphlet on foetal
remains, I was amused to see that while the Internet was absent,
Resurrectionists and Body Snatching both get honourable mentions (WZ 320).
Given the subject matter, it's ironic that WZ was not part of the 19th
century NLM schedule, though I guess in those days QS (Anatomy) would have
been more appropriate than WZ (History of Medicine) for Burke, Hare and
their colleagues...
NLM revised the 5th edition classification in 1999 and a searchable version
is available on line (http://wwwcf.nlm.nih.gov/class) but does anyone have
any idea if a new edition is in the pipeline or when this is likely to come
out?
Yours aye,
Dr. John S. Rule,
