Looks like more is happening that I expected!! I take back (at least) some
of my assumptions about LA/Cilip.
Tho its not definite yet- will let you know when/if I hear more.

Subject: LISA as part of LA/CILIP membership
Dear Fiona
Thank you for your emails on the above subject, which you have sent to Jill
Martin. We are currently in negotiation with Cambridge Science Abstracts,
the publishers of LISA, over the provision of LISA for the membership.
Subject to the successful outcome of these talks and the setting up of
restricted access to the Abstracts via membership numbers, we hope to be
able to be able to offer this service to members within a couple of months
after the advent of CILIP.
I am sorry that we cannot provide you with a more definitive answer, but
please do not hesitate to contact us if you have further queries.
Your sincerely
Caroline Nolan ALA

From 1 April 2002, the LA will unify with the Institute of Information
Scientists to form CILIP: the Chartered Institute of Library and Information
Professionals.
