Requesting help just now pricked my conscience about last year's request for qualitative articles on clinical librarianship. I had some v helpful responses which I have listed:
How about contacting Linda Ward Clincal Librarian Tel.No. 01162588078

I've just been looking at a possible helpful article at

I have stacks of stuff, some rather old as I believe Guy's
was the first place ever to try out a Clinical Librarian
post back in 1978. I haven't properly looked at the Guy's
stuff but it tends to be referred to as a 'failed
experiment' and may not be very relevant to the more modern
projects. Here are some of the references (please excuse me
if they are not given to the highest bibliographical
standards!)

I'm running out of time and energy to write more now, but
there's also a Leicester project, I got some details a
while ago from their web site
http://www.le.ac.uk/li/lgh/library/clpplan.htm
This web site also gives a number of other useful recent
refs including from Lucy Reid who's currently Clinical
Librarian in Barnet I think
There have been relevant articles by Jeremy Wyatt in the J
Royal Soc Med this year and last, also in the BMJ and JAMA.
Finally (!), items 1-4 above we have here if you want to
borrow.
Best wishes

there was an article about the Whipps Cross Clinical Support Librarian post
in the December 2000 Health Libraries review which may be of interest? it
also refers to a report from a Leceister based CSL. Probably best to contact
Julie-Ann Watson at whipps cross hospital (who co-wrote the article about
her role). There's also a London based group of outreach/clinical librarians
who meet regularly, co-ordinated by Lesley Glassington - Clinical
Effectiveness librarian at UCL - who may be aware of other research.

hello,
I've been in post as Clinical Support Librarian for two years now. The post was originally funded for two and a half years so we're currently looking at new streams of funding.
We're having some evaluative work done on my role at the moment which is taking a qualitative approach. An MSc student is basing her dissertation on my role and is near completion. She's done some quantitative analysis on the literature searches I've carried out, and in-depth interviewing with five people who have used the service as case studies.
We also have an external researcher from City University doing a more formal evaluation of the impact my role has had, which again will be more qualitative.
We're hoping to get this info disseminated after the work is completed, so may be in a position to share our findings early in the new year.
Best wishes
Julie
