CLASSIFICATION IN A KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT CONTEXT
CILIP workshop, 22 January 2003, London
The requirement to have your data well structured, easily accessible and
searchable is obvious. However the way to actually achieve this is less
clear, and there is frequently a huge gap between intention and execution in
the structuring of data
BENEFITS FROM ATTENDING
This course will explore, using practical examples of grouping and
classification, the creation of useful order using general principles of
classification rather than the established library codes like Dewey or
Bliss.
The purpose of the day is to enable participants to think more clearly about
tasks that involve generating useful order among disparate entities and then
create an appropriate, robust, local solution.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This day will be useful for database designers and data analysts who need to
filter sort and structure the data they are adding to their databases or
websites.
WORKSHOP LEADER: Keith Trickey
Keith is a part time Senior Lecturer at Liverpool Business School and
freelance trainer. Keith regards all learning/training situations as
opportunities to play with and explore ideas and techniques.
