A reminder about the Evidence based Librarianship Confernce in Edmonton Alberta
in 4th-6th June 2003. Call for papers closes at midnight GMT December 13th 2002.
If you are a UK-based potential speaker but can't find the whole price of
attendance it may still be worth you submitting a paper as we The Helicon
Research Working party are currently exploring the possibility of bursaries
from bodies such as the NeLH, Helicon and HLG. More than likely bursaries will
only be for participants not spectators:-) and probably not for the whole
amount but some contribution.
For further details see Web site:

[Remember that the Canadian Health Libraries Association is back-to-back
preceding this conference. Their call for papers is at
http://www.chla-absc.ca/2003/call.html
and closes 29th November 2002].
Call for Contributed Papers
The International Programme Committee is inviting submissions for the
contributed paper sessions. Papers may describe practitioner-based research,
the implementation of research in practice, evaluation as a way of informing
future activities or programmes or the application of evidence based practice
models and tools to librarianship and should relate to the overall theme of the
conference.
Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:
International perspectives on evidence based librarianship
The relationship between evidence based librarianship and evidence based
practice
Relevant and answerable questions facing librarian practitioners and
researchers
The quality and quantity of practice-based research in librarianship
Techniques for synthesising and summarising the evidence
Disseminating and utilising research into practice
Project evaluation, Program evaluation or the Measurement of educational
outcomes in library practice
Accepted contributed papers will each be allotted approximately 20 minutes for
presentation during the course of the conference and will be presented as part
of either a research stream or a practice stream.
To be considered, please complete the Abstract Submission Form including a
short, structured abstract of 250 words or less, by 12 midnight GMT on Friday
December 13, 2002.
Call for Posters
Poster sessions comprise visual presentations of information about research or
other projects. They offer a less formal alternative to contributed papers and
plenary sessions, and an opportunity to interact directly with those
responsible for the presentations.
Poster presenters will be allotted an 8' by 4' poster board, a table, and
electricity. You must bring your own laptop computer if your poster
presentation is to be electronic---with a standalone version of the
presentation. Those displaying electronic posters may wish to use the poster
board to draw notice to the topic being presented.
You will be required to staff your print or electronic poster during a portion
of the conference (June 5); posters will be open to viewing by conference
delegates on both days of the conference (June 5 and 6).
Posters are invited along the same themes as those of the contributed papers,
although submissions along other themes are also welcome. To be considered,
please complete the Abstract Submission Form including a short, structured
abstract of 250 words or less, by 12 midnight GMT on Friday December 13, 2002.
Note for Presenters
Please note that conference registration fees will not be waived for presenters
of contributed papers or posters. Also note that the International Programme
Committee may invite some of those offering contributed papers to present these
as posters if they consider this to be more suitable for the Programme content.
Please direct questions about Papers or Posters to the Chair of the
International Program Committee: Andrew Booth - [log in to unmask]
