Have you have your It Department check this is not a virus related problem?

With apologies for cross posting!
I'm sure I'm not the only one affected by this but my system regualrly
renames attached files as att.dat, which means the file has to be saved
under a different name and then opened in Word - which is a real pain when
all that the attachment is giving is notification of a meeting or something
like that which could so easily be included in the message itself. Not only
is the file renamed, it is also stripped of all formatting, and the pretty
colours so the beautiful poster you designed gets reduced to something like
this
<color><param>FF00,0000,0000</param>Hi Everyone,
Heart-breaking, isn't it? I wonder if other people have the same problem,
or is it the way my account has been set up?
Please, may I appeal to everyone who posts messages to the mailing lists not
to attach files unless absolutely essential and to clearly indicate in the
message what the subject of the file is so people like me can decide whether
to delete or to go to the trouble of saving it. Many thanks.
It would also be helpful if you add your details at the bottom of the
message, because your address gets converted into a code, particularly if
the message originates within the NHS community, so it is very difficult to
know who or where the message has come from. I haven't been in the NHS long
enough to recognise all your first names! (Or to recognise the three letter
codes for the various health organisations) In time, I might but please in
the meantime, HELP! Please identify yourself!
Many thanks again.
