INFORMATION SCIENTIST
Starting salary up to c. £23,000pa
This new post in the Library and Information Service (LIS) combines
delivering a specialist information service to users, with the provision of
methodological support for the evidence-based National Collaborating Centre
for Chronic Conditions and the College's Clinical Effectiveness and
Evaluation Unit. Your main duties will include: literature searches using
electronic resources (e.g. Medline, Cochrane, BIOME/OMNI) and in conjunction
with the systematic reviewer producing critical appraisal syntheses of the
literature for consideration by Guideline Development Groups.
You should be a qualified information scientist/ librarian with good
experience of electronic resources, developing search strategies and
systematic literature retrieval, gained within a medical/biosciences/health
environment. As an effective organiser and communicator, you will apply
strong storage and retrieval skills and be familiar with relevant network
systems (e.g. MS Office).
