A reminder that the deadline for abstracts for the EBL Conference in Edmonton,
Alberta June 4th-6th 2003 is Friday 13th December 12 midnight GMT.
If you are a UK-based librarian we are pleased to announce that the HELICON
Research Working Party will be sponsoring three £ 500 bursaries for those
wishing to present at the conference.
Simply fill in the abstract submission form at
http://www.ualberta.ca/~pryan/program.html
and if your abstract is one of the three highest scoring UK abstract
submissions as judged by our independent International Program Committee then
the bursary is yours! No separate application form required.
To be eligible you must be a member of at least ONE of the following:
Health Libraries Group
IFM Healthcare
Libraries for Nursing
University Health Sciences Librarians Group
University Medical School Librarians Group
Note: The HELICON Research Working Group is one of the most successful products
of the HELICON cross-sector collaboration within health information. It has
successfully organised two Research in the Workplace Awards, the first ever
EBL Conference in Sheffield and various CE events on EBL and research. These
bursaries represent the swansong for the Research Working Group before it
realigns itself with the exciting strategies currently being developed by the
new committee of the Health Libraries Group, by formally becoming part of the
HLG once again.
As the UK bursaries will be awarded by blinded, independent observers from the
International EBL Programme Committee they are open to any UK health librarian
regardless of whether they have had past association with HELICON or any of its
constituents. Bursaries will be awarded strictly on the merits of submitted
abstracts.
We regret that these bursaries are not open to those who are not members of at
least one of the above groups. Decisions will be made by mid to late January
2003.
