YORKSHIRE QUAKER HERITAGE PROJECT: LOCATION REGISTER NOW AVAILABLE
ONLINE
Visit http://www.hull.ac.uk/lib/archives/quaker/ and choose 'Online
databases'
The location register is an online database containing descriptions of
publicly accessible Quaker-related archives and book collections held
by archive offices and libraries in Yorkshire. It also includes
collections held elsewhere but relating to the region. The pre-1974
county boundaries are used to define Yorkshire.
The database covers Meetings of the Society of Friends, other Quaker
organisations, such as schools, charities and businesses, individual
Friends and Quaker families, Meeting libraries and Quaker book
collections, finding aids, and non-Quaker sources.
Searches can be performed using keywords, personal names, corporate
names, place names, repositories and collection types.
The database brings together the results of the survey work undertaken
by the project since 1999. Work will continue to expand, edit and add
entries until the end of July 2002. As this is still very much work in
progress, some searches may retrieve entries with only very limited
information.
Comments and suggestions are welcomed. The project is a collaborative
venture between Hull University Brynmor Jones Library, Leeds University
Library and the Borthwick Institute of Historical Research at York
University. It is funded by the Research Support Libraries
Programme. The contribution of many colleagues, historians, Friends
and others to this work is gratefully acknowledged.
