ADVANCED TEACHING SKILLS
CILIP workshop, 4 February 2003, London

This event is designed to enable those with some experience of creating and
facilitating learning activities to develop their knowledge, skills and
approach to teaching.

BENEFITS FROM ATTENDING:
Participants will have the opportunity to discuss and obtain feedback on
their own teaching strategies.

They will be able to share their experiences of what has worked, to reflect
on difficulties that they have encountered and to formulate strategies to
deal with these difficulties. Participants will be able to ask questions
about particular aspects of teaching and learning, and to consider
alternative approaches/ways forward.

BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE:
* shared examples of good practice and successful teaching
* considered the sources of the difficulties that they have faced in their
teaching
* discussed alternative strategies for dealing with these difficulties
* explored issues that they have identified as problematic in teaching (for
example how groups work; meeting the needs of different learners)
* planned some new strategies to enhance their teaching

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This workshop will be ideal for anyone who has attended CILIP's Teaching
Skills workshop, but is also open to anyone who has already taken part in
professional development activity focused on their teaching.

The workshop will assume a basic knowledge of key learning theories, lesson
planning and teaching techniques, and some skill in setting up and
facilitating group activities.

SPECIAL NOTES:
There will be input on topics of shared interest, identified through a
