A development day for library and information assistants

Back by popular demand - places are now available on an updated version of
last year's successful event.  This workshop addresses the issue of staff
development for library and information assistants in Further and Higher
Education.  

The morning session is entitled: "Dealing with people through influencing
with integrity". Participants will be taken through the problems of dealing
with colleagues and customers, with lots of suggestions for coming out of a
situation smiling!  It is being run by Nick Hammond, who has led a number of
popular and entertaining workshops at past CoFHE events.  Nick is Head of
Workforce Development at Broxtowe College and specialises in
solution-centred approaches to people issues. 

The afternoon workshop entitled "Training and development opportunities"
will be led by Margaret Oldroyd.  This is very much an interactive session
in which participants will look at their own training and development needs
before being guided through the available options.  Among the hot topics
that Margaret will be looking at are the relaunched NVQ's for Library and
Information Services, for which City & Guilds are now the awarding body.
Margaret is the Staff and Quality Development Manager at De Montfort
University.

Time:           9.45am - 3.30pm with optional tour of the library
afterwards.
Cost:           £25.00 including buffet lunch and refreshments
