I wondered whether any members of the group would be able to help me. We
are planning a new Learning Resource Centre which will open to users at the
beginning of the 2004/5 academic year.
I am now at the stage of having to specify details of furniture and
lighting and wondered whether I could ask those who have gone through a
similar planning exercise recently:
1. We hope to zone our seating with group study in one area, quiet study in
another and integrated study spaces with space for books, computer and
papers in another. I would be interested in any comments others have on
factors that will need to be taken into account. It would also be useful to
receive details of manufacturers used for study furniture.
2. Certain resource areas, including the bookstock are likely to expand
fairly rapidly in our first few years of operation and I am keen to explore
a lighting system that is flexible enough to be adjusted and move as the
configuration of shelving and study paces is altered. Would anyone have any
recommendations in this area please.
Many thanks, and I'd be happy to summarise responses to the group if this
is felt to be helpful to others, Anne
