UNIVERSITY OF SUSSEX LIBRARY
The University of Sussex Library is currently undergoing a structural
and operational review of library services to contribute to the
fulfilment of the University's overall mission. Two exciting
opportunities have arisen for a Reader Services Librarian and a Library
Resources Manager.
We are seeking professional librarians with extensive experience of
successfully managing similar services to a high standard in a large
Higher or Further education institution. A knowledge of Talis is highly
desirable. These roles offer varied and challenging opportunities for
leadership and innovation. Energy, commitment, and first-rate
communication skills are essential.
LIBRARY RESOURCES MANAGER (Ref 350)
Administrative, Library and Computing Faculty Grade 3
The applicant will be responsible for the innovative management and
development of the acquisition and processing of Library materials, the
coordination of electronic and print journal subscriptions and for
ensuring high technical standards. A sound understanding of AACR2/MARC
and automated cataloguing are essential. Practical experience of
electronic journals management and Library of Congress Classification
Schedules will be an advantage. The postholder will report to the
Support Services Manager and will be responsible for the management and
welfare of a team of a full- and part-time staff, including a fulltime
professional Resource Librarian .

READER SERVICES LIBRARIAN (Ref 351)
Administrative, Library and Computing Faculty Grade 4
The postholder will have an impressive record of bringing innovation and
flair to the strategic planning and management of lending services,
shelving operations and evening and weekend facilities. He/she will be
keen to accept the challenge of delivering efficient and effective
user-oriented services in a changing University environment and in
accordance with best practice. An effective team leader and motivator,
the postholder will have excellent organisational skills. Reporting to
the Deputy Librarian/Information Services Manager, he/she will be
responsible for the management and welfare of more than 20 full- and
part-time staff.
