'JIBS UG Workshop: Educating the Users - Information Skills Training'
26th July 2002
ALL DAY

Oxford University Computing Services
13 Banbury Road, Oxford, OX2 6NN

The JIBS User Group (http://hosted.ukoln.ac.uk/jibs/) is running another
workshop, free to anyone from an institution that is a member of JIBS.
This time we are concentrating on educating staff and students to make
more use of electronic resources. We will look at off-the-shelf material
available to you, teaching programmes used elsewhere, and how to design
your own.

REGISTRATION
-----------------------
The event, including lunch, is FREE to anyone from an institution that has
paid its annual membership to the JIBS User Group. To see if your
institution is a member see:

http://users.ox.ac.uk/~stuart/members.html

If you are not a member at the moment this can be arranged by contacting
Jill Lambert at Aston University (JIBS UG Treasurer -
[log in to unmask]). Membership, which costs 55.00 per annum, would
allow you or anyone else from your institution to come to the event
(numbers permitting) and to attend the next JIBS workshop in November.

To register simply send your details to Lorna Dubidat
([log in to unmask]; tel: [2]83289).

VENUE
----------
The workshop will be held in Lecture Room A, Oxford University Computing

MORE ABOUT JIBS
---------------
The JIBS User Group is one of the major means of feedback for end-users of
the UK's Distributed National Electronic Resource (DNER). It encompasses
users and librarians in both the HE and FE sector. JIBS originated as the
user group for 'JIsc (assisted) Bibliographic dataserviceS' but now sees
its remit as extending beyond bibliographic material to all content
available via the DNER.

The User Group is independent of JISC, and its principal aims are:

* to stimulate and maintain interest in the use of JISC supported online
services and the DNER, focusing especially on matters of content

* to provide an effective and independent forum for discussion and
information exchange between the users of such services (both FE and HE)

* to bring matters of concern to the attention of the data suppliers and
the data service providers

* to influence collectively the development of JISC supported online
products and services
