That is one of the reasons why I've argued *against* a higher
than standard price. If we are the only place that a book can be
obtained we have an obligation (in my opinion) to make it available if
possible - and it seems unfair to make anyone pay more for it. We
expect other libraries to provide us with loans and photocopies for a
standard price so we should provide the same service in return.
Personally I don't want to stop requests coming to us - what
I'm after is more staff so that we can deal with them! But obviously
that isn't going to happen :-( hence Management's proposal to raise the
price.
