Since we make it our business to track scads of these things, I'd
like to put in a word of support for IEEE on this one.
IEEE added the links for OPAC's around the end of last year.
Continuing support for the old links was never promised. The new
links were put in place to support linking from OPAC's, and are
advertised as such. So IEEE has put in place something they say they
can and will support. This is a step forward.
I think it's pushing it to expect a publisher to send all their
subscribers email explaining that an unannounced, unsupported
function is disappearing, when the new, supported function has been
so well advertised. A site like IEEExplore has millions of links in
it, after all.
Go to http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/ The OPAC linking info is right
there on the front page. If every site were as easy...
