I was attending the Infonortics Search Engine Meeting in San Francisco
this week and one of the speakers was giving a paper about the
development of their intranet, and the installation of a search engine
application.
The speaker, from a large pharmaceutical company, mentioned that they
had had a very adverse reaction from publishers when they went to spider
their sites so that they could integrate into the intranet search
index/taxomony the e-journal content that they had subscribed to.
I should add that they were seeking permission to spider, not just doing
it on the quiet.
I would be interested to learn if any list subscriber has experienced a
similar problem.
Thank you
