Who is your subscription agent?
Thanks

Unfortunately it is not always that easy to obtain the magic number -
especially if the publisher requires it to identify the library as a
subscriber to the print journal.
Rollo Turner's response is very encouraging. I hope that agents will
have a vital role to play in this area. For example, the reference
number appearing on our agent's invoice at present is the agent's own
number for our subscritpion and not the publisher's reference number.
Some publishers seem to allocate a number after a subscription is renewed
(and change it every year) and it would not be possible for the agent
to include this information on their renewal invoice.
I've also found that who can authorise e-access to print-with-online
journals is not always clear when contents are provided by a third party.
Our agent seems to think they can but messages from publishers often
suggest otherwise. It would be an improvement if publishers and content
providers accept and act on requests from agents for e-access on behalf
of subscribing libraries.
The announcement of NISO's initiative to develop a standard to facilitate
the exchange of serials subscription information that Rollo referred to
is available from the liblicense-l archive at
http://www.library.yale.edu/~llicense/ListArchives/0204/msg00018.html
(It has not appeared in the UK mirror site archive yet.)
