At Edge Hill we list our ejnls on the web pages and on our opacs. We have
over 3000 titles listed now and it is very time-consuming maintaining two
databases. It is not so much a problem in adding titles but amending and
deleting in two places does cause errors and extra work. Can I ask if
colleagues are getting their catalogue and their web pages to "talk to each
other" i.e. a change in one is reflected in the other? I have looked through
the archives and there has been a discussion on the merits of web pages v
opacs but I cannot find any mention of the maintenance. We have looked into
the possibility of only maintaining one but feel both have their own merits
and would like to keep the two if possible. Any information or examples of
sites that have managed this would be most welcome.
The other thing I would really like is a "searchable" database on the web
pages. The lists are getting longer. I would like users to be able to put in
either the start of the journal title or a word from the title and go to the
record(s)
Thanks
