I've just had a hard-sell phone call from TheScientificWorldJournal
(sic) telling me how well they're doing now in publishing life
sciences articles and offering me a free trial.

Apparently UK University libraries are falling over themselves to
support this new digital publishing venture. Can this be true? Am I
missing something, or is this not just another commercial venture
like any other publisher?
More generally, how useful is a free trial to this journal? We
usually need to put in quite a bit of effort to get any feedback from
trials of electronic products, and it seems to me that we would
thereby be promoting this publisher's new journal. My usual approach
is not to promote new journals but to wait until we get significant
demand for a subscription.
I'm interested in others' view of this title.
