I chartered in November (hurray!!). My employer at the time, Aston
University, was supportive and even put together a Route A training prog
especially for me as no-one had chartered there for quite a few years.
I didn't get help with fees (to be honest, I didn't even think to ask)
and I didn't get time off for writing up, which I did try asking for.
But I did get as much time as I needed for any visits or courses that
were related to chartering, and in the case of courses, my expenses were
paid. Most of my library visits were local, and I made the most of my
visits to various libraries while on other courses (and even job
interviews!).

Subject: Help/Aid for Chartership Candidates from employers
Dear All,
I was very intereseted to read L. Fossey's email re L.A. subscription
costs. The fact that Exeter Uni give some time for writing up of PDR,
gives assistance with subscription costs as well as submittance costs is
fantastic - I was wondering who else out there is given assistance, in
any
shape or form, having completed route A of the Chartership scheme?
Jackie Pearce.
