My first degree in the 1960s was accountancy. In order to retain my letters
for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants you had to pay every
year . There was no concessions for dropping out and starting up again
without paying back all the intervening years. I know I stopped to have a
child. I don't think the same applies today re not getting a break but you
certainly have to pay to show your letters. My husband too as an Electrical
engineer has to keep up his membership to use his letters on notepaper etc.
If you want to belong to a profession the choice is yours.
