Over the last couple of months ADITUS has experienced some lengthy downtimes and I have been in discussion with OVID about their poor level of service. I will be meeting OVID's European Director in early January to discuss the matter further.
The problem has been with OVID's subcontractor Newchurch. They are currently hosting NHSnet access to all our Silverplatter databases, OVID full text journals and Oxford Textbook. It has still not be explained to me why the servers keep crashing and to be honest and I don't think they know!
A temporary solution is currently in place which connects use to the US OVID servers. This will change on the 3rd January. OVID are currently setting up a direct link to their UK Silverplatter servers. Users will not notice any change. The only difference is that we will not be using NHSnet. All connection will be directed to the web UK server. You don't have to do anything - just carry on using ADITUS as you have done previously.
Over the last two days I have had dozens of volunteers test the connection and everything was OK. However, if you do experience any problems let me know ASAP.
With regards
Colin
