SD COMMISSION - TELLING STORIES EVENT
With the Johannesburg Summit putting sustainable development (sd) in the
headlines like never before, it's time to think harder about how to
communicate sustainable development in practice. You are warmly invited to
Telling Stories, an event to showcase the huge variety of recent sustainable
development communications initiatives and to explore the potential of
Combust, the new sustainable development communicators' network. Telling
Stories will take place from 9.00 -11.30am on 27 August 02 at the Barbican
Suite at the Barbican Centre, London. (Entrance in Silk Street) Theevent
will run as follows:
9.00am Breakfast and registration
9.30am Introduction and Q&A - Jonathon Porritt, SDC Chairman
9.50am 4 x 10 minute case studies including: Steve Connor, ex-Sustainability
North West - cutting-edge sd publications; Liz Tooke, BAA - communicating sd
to staff through awareness-raising days; Mike Porter, DEFRA - winning over
the media with sd stories (TBC); Solitaire Townsend, Futerra - sd films for
the general public (films will be shown)
10.30am Panel Q&A
10.50am An introduction to the Combust network - Esther Maughan, SDC
Communications Director
11.00am Breakout sessions to brainstorm purposes and outcomes of Combust
11.20am Summary of brainstorming
11.30am + Collecting material for Combust's 'library' and informal
networking
In the informal part of the event, you will have the opportunity to
contribute your own communications initiatives to Combust's sd
communications 'library', as well as seek and offer help on current sd
communications problems.
