What are the stories that need to be told?
WHY:
Communication has been identified by The Higher Education Partnership for Sustainability (HEPS) as
the key to unlocking the potential for sustainable development in Higher Education. The HEPS is a
collaboration between Forum for the Future* and 18 UK Universities and Colleges exploring how to
optimise their contribution towards sustainable development in their role as:
institutions which form and inform tomorrow
teaching and research agendas
managers of major businesses where prudent use of resources not only saves money but safeguards
reputations
important actors in the local communities and regional development
service user and provider
Our aim is to establish a pioneering partnership group of HEIs that are seen to be achieving their
strategic objectives through positive engagement with the sustainable development agenda, and to
generate the transferable tools, guidance and the inspiration that will encourage the rest of the
sector to do likewise.
