BRISTOL 2002 SCHUMACHER LECTURES & AWARD
Top Green Lecture Series asks the question
³Can we create a local world?²
Local communities and ecosystems around the world are wilting before the blast of economic globalisation. Yet we need to nourish our communities, not destroy them, if we are to build cultures of peace, prosperity and sustainability in the 21st century.
This central challenge of our times is the subject of the Bristol 2002 Schumacher Lectures, to be held on Saturday, November 2nd at the Victoria Rooms, Queens Road, Bristol. They also commemorate the 25th anniversary of the death of E.F.Schumacher, author of the seminal book ıSmall is Beautifulı.
Three distinguished speakers, Zac Goldsmith, editor of The Ecologist , Dr. Caroline Lucas, one of Britainıs two Green Members of the European Parliament; and Pooran Desai, founder and co-director of the BioRegional Development Group; will give their insights into how we can all work to strengthen our local communities.
Tickets (£20.00/ £15.00 concessions) and membership may be booked through the Schumacher UK national office at the CREATE Environment Centre, Smeaton Road, Bristol, BS1 6XN, (0117) tel/fax: 903-1081. E: [log in to unmask]
