POSITION: GIS (Visual Basic/ ArcObjects) Programmer
SALARY: Commensurate with experience ($12/hr minimum)
The position is funded for 1 year, but extensions are likely.
LOCATION: Ft. Lauderdale Research and Education Center
Ft. Lauderdale, FL
The Ft Lauderdale Research and Education Center is seeking applicants
for technical programming positions on an ongoing applied ecological
research project that looks at the entire Greater Everglades South
Florida landscape and evaluates the effects of restoration alternatives
on listed species, biological diversity and ecological integrity.
DUTIES: The successful candidate will assist the coding of spatial
wildlife habitat models and decision support systems in a ArcView/
ArcGIS environment, development of models of spatial patterns in the
landscape and how these relate to sustainable wildlife communities,
maintenance of natural processes, and habitat change, and landscape
model integration with the WWW and other avenues of public and
policy-maker outreach. Models will assist federal and state agencies in
making recommendations and permit decision in south Florida.
SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Applicant should be well versed in
Visual Basic and knowledgeable in ERSI ArcGIS and the ArcObjects
development platform. Experience with ArcObjects raster and spatial
analysis components is desirable. Natural resource knowledge is a plus.
