Metamorphic petrologists,
For the last few years of my petrology teaching (at different institutions),
I've had access to sample collections which include pelites showing a nice
progression of metamorphic grade within a single formation. This year, I'm
not having the same luck. Does anyone know if any geological supply
companies (like Wards or something akin to the now defunct Western Minerals)
stock groups of samples like this? If not, might anyone out there have some
extra samples (say, 5) showing a typical Barrovian sequence (the more zones,
the better) within more or less the same formation? I think our department
might be able to fork over some $ for such a collection, but I'd have to
confirm that first. My pelite lab is in 6 weeks, so we'd need to get ahold
of these pretty quickly.
I know I'm asking for the moon here, but I thought I'd give it a try.
Thanks for your help!
