Asunto: GREDOS SEMINAR ON CRUSTAL GRANITES
First Announcement: GREDOS SEMINAR ON CRUSTAL GRANITES
organized by F. Bea, P. Montero and J. H. Scarrow, Univ. of Granada,
Spain
The Seminar is aimed at discussion and exchange of ideas about the
generation of granites at batholitic scale within the continental crust.
It is based on day field excursions to the migmatites, S-type granites,
and coeval cortlandites and high-Mg gabbrodiorites of the Sierra de
Gredos, Avila Batholith, one of the world’s largest and best exposed
batholithic associations of strongly peraluminous granodiorites and
granites. Every field excursion will be followed by an open session to
address outstanding problems related to the genesis of granite rocks
within the continental crust.
Presentations and Abstracts: The Seminar is intended to promote fruitful
discussions by keeping the sessions open, informal and to the point.
Participants are encouraged to present new material and/or perspectives
related to the general subject of every session. This can be done either
as a short talk, a poster, or just by contributing to one discussion.
Abstracts are welcome, but not required.
