A permanent position of Head of Section (General Geology, name and objective
to be redefined in the near future) is open at the Royal Museum for Central
Africa, 3080 Tervuren, Belgium.
The candidate will be holder of a PhD in Earth Sciences with at least six
years of proven scientific activity.
Preference will be given to candidates having a first-class experience
demonstrated by international publications in structural geology or related
sciences.
The candidate will have a large experience in strategic planning,
organization, conducting and management of scientific research at an
international level turned towards Africa.
He will lead the section in accordance to the mission statement of the
Department of Geology and Mineralogy and the Museum. He will demonstrate his
managing skills, his sensibility to the problematic of sustainable
development in Africa and his ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
The candidate must have French or Dutch as mother tongue or be holder of a
legal capacity in one of these languages. Knowledge of the other national
language (French or Dutch) and of English will be considered as an asset.
The candidate for the above position can also apply to the function of Head
of Department (Geology and Mineralogy).
In addition to above requirements, the candidate to this position will have
12 years of proven scientific activity, including 6 years as PhD. He will
demonstrate management responsibilities, an experience in raising funds and
a clear view of the mission of the Department.
