Dear Angie,
I have been asked by Ursula King to put together a large bibliography on the
theme Religion and Gender, covering books, articles and some well
established websites, post 1995. The dating is because Ursula King published
a very successful anthology of articles with Routledge in 1995, where Ursula
included her own representative bibliography of the field - titled "Religion
and Gender." This new anthology of articles is like the first, based on an
international gathering of scholars, a Colloquium, which Ursula held last
year. The bibliography, will be given more space and be a major section of
the anthology.
Religion and Gender was a reworking of Feminist Theology, or Women and
Religion, to insist on both women and men as gendered. Most of the material
is still very much women based, or female feminist based, though, because
that represents the majority of work being done. Ursula's work also
emphasises the theoretical, and the problems and delights of method, as well
as the results of enquiries.
Since the bibliography which Ursula has asked me to prepare for her final
edit of this second book is to be such a significant support feature, I feel
that single handed I could do no more than a just about competent job. I
would like it to be wider focused than even a wide ranger like me, and more
interesting in detail too than I could produce alone. I am aware it will
serve a lot of new and already working scholars, just as Ursula's book
served me (into dilapidation) when I was in early PhD years. So I want to
make it as helpful as possible.
This is why I am inviting people to send me copies of bibliographic lists,
either attached to their own papers, or from other sources.
Or to compile a shortlist of personal favourite books articles etc - dated
since 1995. Anyone who contributes to the bibliography will be named and
credited.
As they say, hope this helps.
