(Please forward info. and suggestions to Amanda Wise <[log in to unmask]>.)
Dear List members,
I am currently writing about the East Timorese refugee community in
Australia, looking specifically on their experience surrounding the
possibility of return to East Timor, following its independece from
Indonesia. The project is an ethnographic one - and focuses in particular
on questions of home, belonging and identity.
I have a question for the list: I am looking for material dealing with the
issue of 'return' and reptatriation of refugee communities who have been
living in western countries. I am hoping to build a bibliography of general
material - so any suggestions are welcome. In particular - I am interested
in ethnographic accounts - but any references will be of use. I suppose the
return of Latin American, and South African exiles is what immediately
springs to mind - but there are a good number of possible case studies
(Cambodia, Vietnam, the Balkans, etc) that i hope people have written on.
I would be most grateful for any suggestions - and will post the collection
of references suggested to the list.
Thanks kindly
Amanda Wise
