HOME: the London Refugee Housing Conference
Monday November 4th 2002 - 10am to 5pm
City Hall, The Queen's Walk, London SE1 2AA
One in 20 Londoners is a refugee, our city has been built and sustained by
refugee efforts. New communities have been bringing new industries, new
cultures and new possibilities to London for centuries. Yet refugees are
now often represented as a threat or a problem and denied a home in the
capital. As Parliament debates a new Nationality, Immigration and Asylum
Bill, come and discuss how refugees are making London their home.
We invite you:
- To provide an opportunity to share the experiences and understanding of
the housing needs of asylum seekers and refugees in London
- To explore housing options, through the sharing of information on current
initiatives and developments
- To develop ongoing discussion/interest groups to continue work on
specific areas
- To enable the development of a network of community based groups and
mainstream service providers to work together to meet the housing needs of
asylum seekers and refugees in London
Please come if you are:
- Housing providers including RSLs, local authorities, hostels, private
sector providers
- Refugee community organisations
- Other community based organisations working with asylum seekers and
refugees
- Advice agencies
- Representatives of national organisations or others involved in making or
influencing policy.
Attached you will find:
