-------------------------------------------------
Dear Colleagues,
This is the inaugural edition of the Emergency Preparedness Newsletter. It
is a tool to link organisations working in emergency response in Southern
Africa. It was conceived in response to several requests from stakeholders
working in the field, as a means of disseminating information regarding new
developments in the region, organisations' work, events, publications, and
relevant information around emergency response in the region.
Currently, we see preparedness for a potential famine-induced influx from
neighbouring countries, especially Zimbabwe, into South Africa as a priority
issue. However, the list will not be limited to famine or news from
Zimbabwe. Submissions from and regarding other Southern African countries or
other potential emergency areas within South Africa are encouraged.
The RRP will function as a List Moderator, making sure that information is
carefully selected to offer the list members a coherent summary of the most
relevant facts around emergency response in Southern Africa. We welcome news
from individuals, organisations working in the field, and regular providers
of information. The quality and range of information depends heavily on you.
Additionally, the RRP will summarise the outcome of consultations made with
different stakeholders and information collected on a daily basis from
public sources and from our partners in the field.
The list's rules are set below. If you have been included in this list by
mistake, please follow the steps below to unsubscribe and receive our
apologies. If you find the concept useful, please forward this email to your
colleagues. Instructions to subscribe are given below.
