Forgotten Humanitarian Crises: Conference on the role of the media,
decision-makers and humanitarian agencies
Copenhagen, 23 October, 2002
The Danish Refugee Council is organising a one-day conference attended by
media personalities, relief workers, researchers, as well as government, EU,
and UN representatives to focus on the pronounced inequality and
irregularity in media and donor response to humanitarian crises.
The objective is to inspire the main players to reflect upon their own
roles, and ultimately to raise public awareness about forgotten humanitarian
crises. Media and researchers are preparing stories, case studies, and
analyses to inform the debate. The conference is funded by the European
Commission (ECHO) in connection with the Danish EU Presidency.
