We are looking for people who would like to participate in a conference in
October 2002 in Cairo dealing with non-Palestinian refugees in the Arab
Middle East. We are looking for papers on particular groups of refugees: the
Saharawi, the Kurds, Somalians, Sudanese, Iraqi and Iranians. If anyone is
prepared to write about groups of African in North African countries and
Lebanon. We are also interested in papers which would treat law and policy
that are particular to these countries. The conference is being
co-sponsored by the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies, FIDH, Paris,
and the Forced Migration and Refugee Studies Programme at the American
University in Cairo. Preliminary proposals for papers or suggestions of
persons who have expertise should be sent to Dr. Anita Fábos
([log in to unmask]) and Dr. Barbara Harrell-Bond ([log in to unmask]).
