Just to clarify.
1. The English Heritage on line system does not use access software.
2. The software is indeed written for thesauri; currently there are about
ten thesauri on line (some under construction). Thesauri are ordered and
searched alphabetically as a rule, so it is hardly surprising that this is
what the software does.
3. New software has been completed which will allow the timelines thesaurus
to be ordered (though not searched) chronologically, but this will not
automatically resolve complex relationships where the chronology is
different in different places.
