Does this mean my project? NB what we are constructing is:
(a) not a thesaurus -- a technical point but an important one -- strict
hierarchical structures do not work. For the model we are following, see:
http://alexandria.sdc.ucsb.edu/~lhill/adlgaz
(b) Not a list of all place names in Britain. Our systematic coverage is
limited to administrative units, partly because a systematic gazetteer of
all place names is too large a project, and partly because administrative
units are corporate bodies as well as locations, and therefore "systematic"
is reasonably well-defined.
If the project is somebody else I would obviously like to be put in touch
with them!
Best wishes,
Humphrey Southall
