Yeah, I was horrified by your humourous response. Come
on. Philosophy has a long tradition of analysing the
obvious. Obviously the sun goes round the earth but
you think about it a bit and maybe it doesn't. Of
course the chair exists but how do we really know it
does. This means that we ask questions which risk
sounding ridiculous in their obviousness. You don't
have to have a harvard degreeor be a rocket scientist.
That remark in fact represents in itself an inverted
snobbery that does no credit to your argument.
However, my statement did rather hinge on the 'a'. I
was simply pointing out 'a' difference. A way of
beginning to think about the differences. Of course if
we begin at the end as you did in your example then we
don't need to bother thinking about anything at all.
