Multimedia, Art, and Technology speak in three days of rare seminars and
discussions.
See a unique series of curated film and video screenings, live performances
and exhibitions from an array of international artists throughout venues
across the City of Leeds.

This yearís EVOLUTION programme will feature....
BILLY KLÐVER (US)
Former Bell Laboratories (NY) engineer and co-founder of E.A.T. (Experiments
in Art and Technology) in 1966 with Robert Rauschenberg, Robert Whitman, and
Fred Waldhauer. Billy Kl¸ver is widely regarded as the father of art and
technology.
MALCOLM LE GRICE (UK)
Professor and Head of Research at the Central Saint Martins College of Art
and Design of the London Institute, practising film and video artist,
theoretician and co-founder of the London Film Makers Co-operative. His work
spans 35 years of practice from early IBM computer punch cards to recent work
exploring the computational potential of digital video.
LILLIAN SCHWARTZ (www.lillian.com) (US)
Pioneering artist and pivotal figure in the development of radical new
techniques for the use of computers by artists. Employed by Bell Laboratories
during the 60's and creator of some of the earliest multi-media art work.
WAYNE ASHLEY (US):
Designed, implemented and directed Arts in Multimedia (AIM), a million-dollar
research, art, and technology project in collaboration with Lucent
Technologies ; initiated to foster collaboration between artists and
researchers at Bell Labs. Wayne Ashley is currently guest curator at
Thundergulch (NY).

Experiments in Art and Technology, The London Film Makers Co-operative,
Malcolm Le Grice, Lillian Schwartz, Stan Van Der Beek, Robert Rauschenberg,
Woody and Steina Vasulka, Nam June Paik, Kurt Kren, Peter Kubelka, Anthony
McCall, Lis Rhodes, Nullpointer, Martin Arnold, Rachel Reupke, reMI,
Christian Fennesz, and Semi Conductor.

by Leeds City Council an Leeds Leisure Services. 'Evolution 2002: PROCESS' is
supported by the Collaborative Arts Unit of the Arts Council of England
through the Connecting Art, Research, Science Initiative. Evolution forms
