Hello,
My answer/completion come a little late, hope unfortunately not too late -
sorry, but I wasn't there.
To Eric:
At first: I should mention that I am art historian. Well, quite simply
spoken, I'm looking for films in which pictures, particularly portraits can
be seen. My study connects to a larger research department which is engaged
on "face in film". My particular theme concerns the portrait in the film
understood as a "communication area". I hope to show, how the portrait
arranges himself opposite the face - I keep the "result" consciously open
here.
Indeed, I am not very interesting in the rule of the "typical" spectator.
Anyway, I would like to pick up a headword you give: "Characterizations" and
I would immediately ask: Whose and how they work? How they are calculated,
that they can work as characterizations? Etc.
My interest rather applies for the question (here roughly simplified): Which
recursion does the film lead, if it particularly uses portraits? Or: What
interests the film at the portrait?
Well, perhaps it is provided a little with something like a "face
anthropology"...
I'm afraid, sometimes I make things too complicated ... Sorry.

Many thanks for your wonderful article!
